Meet: 12:00 PM Departure: 12:30 PM This session in the City of Westmount includes the Westmount City Hall, Westmount Library, Greenhouses, and Victoria Hall as essential conservation sites. Participants will learn that City Hall involves a mix of traditional and innovative restoration techniques for the slate roof, masonry, and window restoration. Attendees will learn about the laser cleaning and other techniques used in the masonry cleaning. The session will include discussions about the challenges of matching slate and the restoration of leaded-glass windows. Architects will share lessons learned along the way. Westmount Library is an interesting example of late nineteenth century civic architecture with a 1990s addition. The City will present their policy on heritage conservation.
