Postdoctoral Researcher

Michael has been postdoctoral researcher with the Rebuild Initiative at the University of Victoria focusing on modelling and rehabilitation of existing residential buildings. Michael completed his Ph.D in Civil Engineering at Carleton University in 2022 as part of the CREATE Heritage Engineering Program. He specializes in building science, hygrothermal modelling, energy retrofits, building energy simulation, condition assessment and monitoring of heritage structures. Michael has field experience in both the public and private sector, including research work on Canada’s Parliament Buildings. He is also a former Student Scholar, and volunteers with APT’s OSCAR project and the APT Student Competition. Michael has recently joined the Institute for Sustainable Heritage at University College London as a lecturer/assistant professor, and plans to continue his research on retrofitting and rehabilitating heritage buildings.
