Muskowekwan First Nation, Canada
Vanessa Wolfe was born to Chief Phillip Wolfe and Elaine Windigo on Treaty 4 territory with traditional kinship connections to the Muskowekwan Anishinabek Nation. She is currently a Councillor for Muskowekwan First Nation since July 2021.
Education has been a constant in Vanessa’s life whether it was life long teachings of traditional knowledge from the kokums and mushoms or academic knowledge from SIIT, Florida Metropolitan University and University of Regina earning awards for achievements in her studies. Vanessa gained valuable experience within Federal, Provincial, Crown Corporation, Municipal, Tribal Council and Indigenous government agencies throughout a 30 year career in administration and program management capacities. Vanessa had a career change and the focus was creating sacred spaces of learning. Vanessa found a passion in facilitating Indigenous perspective life skills, career skills, essentials skills and professional development opportunities. It has been a privilege to share many circles of learning with hundreds of amazing spirits across Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 territories.
Vanessa is a self-sufficient individual with knowledge to offer for the progression of her homeland Muskowekwan. There is a 'life force' in all of this work and at the centre of it all is healing not only for her nation but for all nations. Her passion is building the bridges of understanding and brings a lived-experience of 'truth' in the process of reconciliation. We all have our place in the circle, we all have a purpose and we are all valuable.
Vanessa has three wonderful children Satarrah, Talan and Tayah. She is a 4th generation former student of Muskowekwan IRS and truly it is an honour to represent generations of resilience.
